The internationally renowned Programme for Screen Acting is a year-long full time course dedicated specifically to screen acting.
Curriculum

The Grennell method of Ownership forms the foundation of all training on the Programme. It is a completely immersive practice and discipline that enhances performance and liberates the actor from fear of judgement allowing them to be truthful and present.

Gaining insight into how memory works, a visceral approach to text that bypasses the "rote" memory trap and keeps the performance alive.

The psychology and physiology of your relationship with the lens.

By drawing on our own interpretation of the story, we exercise agency over it and make it ours.

Navigating the high-pressure mechanics of a professional set without giving away your power or compromising your process, even with the camera and crew two feet away.

By understanding what the camera sees, the physics of the frame, and the physiology of the self, the actor expands to fill the screen.

Understanding the child's perspective of their environment and the liberating approach to parallel play.

The actor IS the technique. This is not about following instructions, or controlling outcome, but guiding what naturally emerges with more precise emotional agility.

| Application | DOCUMENT CHECKLIST to attach in the application form below: (1) A cover letter stating why you want to do the course (2) Your most recent CV (don’t worry if you don’t have any major acting experience yet.) (3) Recent Headshot. If you don’t have a professional headshot a self taken headshot will suffice. (4) Application Form (including Self Tape link) which can be downloaded HERE. ALL 4 ITEMS MUST BE UPLOADED TO COMPLETE YOUR APPLICATION You will be provided with details on how to pay your application fee of €40 by bank transfer. |
| How do I apply? | Entrance to the Full Time Programme is via a 2 stage process. STAGE 1: Applicants should submit a Self-tape. SELF-TAPE CHECKLIST: The scene should be a duologue NOT a monologue. Scene should be from a Film or TV series. Maximum Duration 3 mins. Landscape NOT Portrait. Use your own accent. Applications will be assessed on performance and not production value, but it is important that we can see and hear you clearly. It is best to avoid doing scenes from recent successful films or those featuring iconic performances. STAGE 2: IN PERSON AUDITION If an applicant has been successful in their self tape audition they will be invited for an in person audition. Similar to the self tape round, the applicant should prepare a new duologue from a Film or TV series. Scene should be around 2 – 3 mins long.

If you are unavailable to audition we will accept Self-Tapes instead but it is always better to present in person if possible.
Yes. Gerry takes a hands on approach to working with students on the Full Time Programme.
No. We assess applicants based on their level of ability and potential alone and do not require specific credits or qualifications.

No, all classes are in-person and experiential.
Yes, many actors return as the information is dense and evolves with the actor’s own experience.
Yes. Bow Street is one of the few training schools that understands there is no substitute for practical experience. You will always learn more on a Film or TV set than in a classroom and students often get cast in productions that come through Bow Street.
No. As Bow Street is not yet accredited, there are no student grants or funding available right now. Student loans might be sought from Bank or Credit Union.
Due to the high volume of applications, the panel may not be able to review all submissions until after the deadline. Applicants should therefore expect an update a few weeks after the closing date.
Yes – quite often, unsuccessful Full Time applicants are invited to interview for the 6 Month Part Time Course of the Introduction to Screen Acting course.
